Foreign/Expatriate Pakistani Students

Overseas Candidates : ( Foreign and Expatriate Pakistanis )

1.1 Candidates coming from an English medium system (“O” level and “A” levels or equivalent , they may be considered exempted in non-credit English language but should appear in level test of Arabic language at the Arabic Language Teaching Unit of Faculty of Arabic Language for determination of their placement to study non-credit courses in Arabic Language before being registered in their respective faculties. This policy shall apply in both bachelor and masters degree programmes.

1.2 If a candidate is either holding a TOFEL score of 500 or holds IELTS with band score of 6.0 or comes from “O” level and “A” level streams, he/she may be exempted from non-credit English language and required to appear for a level test in Arabic language at the Arabic Language Teaching Unit. This policy shall apply in both bachelor and masters degree programmes.

1.3 If a candidate is deficient in Arabic or English languages, he/she will be required to study the required language(s) in the ALT/TLT Units of the university and shall have to come to the required standard of proficiency before being allowed to join the under graduate or graduate programmes.

1.4 Candidates holding a Higher Secondary School Certificate or a Bachelor Degree from Arab countries/Arabic speaking countries shall be exempted in Arabic language. They will however, be required to study English language in the Faculty of Languages, Literature & Humanities before being allowed to register their bachelor or master level courses, as the case may be.

Steps for Admission of Foreign Candidates:

STEP 1:

An overseas candidate seeking admission has to apply for admission directly to IIUI admission office: Assistant Director (Admissions) International/Overseas Students), Room # 129, First Floor, Admin. Block, Sector H-10, Islamabad, Pakistan Ph: +92-51-9258007, Fax: +92-51-9257923, email: admissions@iiu.edu.pk on prescribed application form available on the website along with following documents.
  • Non-refundable Application Processing Fee of US $40/- in the shape of deposit Challan or Bank Draft or Pay order in favour of IIUI payable at HBL IIU Br (1844), Islamabad A/C# 1844-00-1016- 32

  • Duly signed Application Form (in duplicate)

  • Eight Photographs attached

  • Two copies of Educational Certificates duly verified by the Foreign Ministry of your country.

  • Attested photocopies of final degree/certificate and other testimonials, TOEFL etc. (in duplicate)

  • Passport for candidates older than 18 years and Child Registration Form for candidates below 18 years

  • Four copies of duly filled Government of Pakistan permission form. (Click here to Download)

University will offer admission after evaluation of the academic record of the overseas candidate. However applicants for MS/M.Phil/PhD are required to submit result of NTS/GRE exam within nine months of their joining the University.

STEP 2:

University will issue admission offer letter to the student and copy of the same will be sent to the Higher Education Commission (HEC) of Pakistan to confirm and endorse admission to Ministry of Interior. HEC will coordinate for seeking all the required approvals/verification concerning the student's visa requirement.

STEP 3:

After completing all the requirements, Ministry of Interior will send visa advice to Pakistani Embassy in the country of the student's origin. .

Students should approach the Pakistani mission abroad for the visa and submit the following documents

    i. Application Form ( Student Visa Form)
    ii. Photocopy of Passport
    iii. Photograph
    iv. Educational Documents
    v. Admission letter of University
STEP 4:

Student visa will be issued by Pakistani Embassy after fulfillment of all the requirements for the duration of studies to be renewed annually on the basis of security clearance.

Renewal of Visa:

1.0 It is the responsibility of the Institution where the student is studying to
    i) Certify Visa Extension form
    ii) Issue Bona-fide Student Certificate
    iii) Recommend Extension of Visa, or otherwise
2.0 The student takes the material to the concerned passport office for extension of visa.

3.0 Extension of visa is granted by the Passport Office

4.0 Intimation of any student leaving the Institution or not remaining a full-time student is sent to the HEC. HEC will forward this information to the Ministry of Interior.
