Introduction
he Journey from ILM to UMT

The University of Management and Technology (UMT) has its roots in the Institute of Leadership and Management (ILM), which was established in Lahore in 1990. Spurred on by the great success of ILM, the institution applied for a University Charter, which was granted to it in 2004.

UMT is a project of the ILM Trust. It is an independent, non-for-profit private organization. Its degrees are fully recognized by the Higher Education Commission (HEC) of Pakistan. In September 2007, HEC awarded "W" Category to UMT. UMT now ranks among the few select universities in the country in this category.

Grant Attracts Minorities to STEM Fields

The University of Texas at El Paso has received a five-year grant from the National Science Foundation (NSF) for nearly $2.9 million. The “Science for a Sustainable Future: Developing the Next Generation of Diverse Scientists” award will provide fellowships to minority graduate students in NSF-supported disciplines such as science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM). The doctoral students will build their science and teaching portfolios and bring their leading research findings into K-12 learning settings in an effort to inspire the next generation of scientists.
